What I Wrote and Read in October

I’ve mentioned in the last couple of newsletters that I may not be posting as much on Medium going forward. Maybe, maybe not. I don’t intend to submit work to a new publication, but given that my current membership has another 8 or so months to run, I may be posting stories directly for a bit.

What may change is the nature of the stories and the way I tell them. As I mentioned, I have felt a little boxed in by expectations of length etc on Medium — if I’m posting just under my own name, I can play around a little more with those expectations. I guess I’ll figure it out over the next couple of months. Regardless, I’m definitely not stopping writing.

What I Read in October

Ran across some really terrific stories during the month! Maya D'Souza's three-part (so far) story “His Whore, My Rules” is a wonderfully smoking-hot story of a woman who catches her husband fucking around with a kindergarten teacher and instead of running away, she stays and takes total control of both of them and of the situation. Highly recommended!

I waited until Rick Scott finished publishing his slow-burn of a hot wife story “Benefits Renewed” because I frankly wanted to see where he was taking it. I get a little tired of the woman being taken by an “alpha male” (such an animal does not exist, kids) and leaving her poor weak husband (or at least leaving him behind sexually). On the other hand, stories where it’s all about the love the husband has for his wife (and she for him) and their trust that her heart is not wandering — those I can get into. Rick’s story might be a slow burn, but it absolutely smolders in every chapter. You should definitely check it out!

If you don’t have a lot of time and you want an age-gap story that gets right to the point, check out Mona Rivers’ “Saturday Shenanigans: My New Step-Mother Is A Whore”. I mean, the title kind of says it all, right? Hot fun in a single-chapter story.

MelissaBaby may be the best pure author of any erotica writer that I read regularly. Her Bluesky profile says “I don’t write sex stories, I write stories about people who have sex.” That is a damn fact. If you’re looking for a haunting Hallowe’en story, look no further than “Mr. Spooky’s House of Halloween Fun” on Literotica. But don’t blame me if you have trouble sleeping afterwards.

I’m sure I’m leaving some other good stuff out!

What I Wrote in October

I was surprisingly active in October! Surprise to me, at least.

Part 3 (of 3) of “Belonging” was published on Medium early in the month. I then posted the whole story as a one-parter on Literotica and so far it is the highest rated story I’ve ever published there. I quite like it myself! Olivia was wild in her undergrad days but her life as a grad student at a small private university is way too quiet, until suddenly it isn’t.

I published a continuation of the Bear and Cat age-gap story with “Danielle: A Bear and Cat Tale”. This one is focused more on Barry’s younger brother Adam, and a young woman he meets at his bar. It’s got everything — love, sex, threatened violence, and a brief return of Bono the Beagle!

And they’re all available on Literotica under my ‘flipnmelonfarmer’ pen name.

I introduced the erotica writer Lauren, her husband Mark, and her stepsister April in “Know What You Write”. They’re all back in “Know More Of What You Write”, as Lauren keeps pushing boundaries and Mark finds himself reluctantly intrigued about things he never would have expected. This is evolving into the most straightforward hot wife story I’ve written to date — more to come for sure.

Also available on Literotica — free as always!

Finally, the 3rd arc of “Devil Inside” titled “The Grove” was published just a couple of weeks ago. It seems pretty clear that Sir is starting to lose control of the demon inside of him, or maybe he’s just letting the power he’s borrowing from the demon corrupt him. I’m working on a 4th and final arc and I hope to wrap it all up into a novel and get it published before the end of the year.

# # #

That’s all for this month — I’m hoping to get a short story collection out on Amazon over the next couple of weeks, as well as finish the Devil Inside story. Then we’ll see what’s next!

Thanks as always for reading!

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

I joined Medium initially as a reader a couple of years ago. After some months of enjoying reading, I posted a few non-fiction essays about writing and with some of my thoughts on erotica. Somehow they caught the attention of the wonderful JK Mill, who invited me to write for the Medium publication Exceptional Erotica.

And boy, did I!

The support and positive feedback I’ve gotten from JK and Celia McKinley and all my readers (I’m looking at you, Sifu!) has been nothing short of phenomenal and I thank you all from the bottom of my filthy little heart.

Sadly, as many of you have written or read, Medium is not the same platform as it was last year. My income has dropped to 10–15% of what it was last year, and my readership has dropped, even while the number of people following me has risen.

Not all of that is due to Medium’s changing payment schedule. I’ve done some experimenting with different types of stories, some of which may not have had the same appeal to folks as my earlier stuff. I’ve also had less time to write due to several personal reasons, so my output is down. So while I still see other authors getting tons of responses, I’m getting very little feedback. At least not on Medium.

I was toying with exploring other platforms when it was announced that Exceptional Erotica is going on indefinite hiatus after this month. My “Devil Inside” arc that was just published this week will be my last stories for them. Sad but I totally understand why they’re shutting down.

I could look for another Medium publication to join, and I’m sure I’d have no trouble finding one. But I’ve realized that writing for Medium is limiting (or driving) the way I write. Generally, the expectation is for 1500–2500 words per post, which demands a particular style of writing. If I have a longer story that I’m breaking up into multiple posts, I find myself trying to make sure I put some heat in each one, even if they story beats don’t really call for it. It also feels like I need to continually publish on a weekly basis to maintain interest, which is difficult to keep up while I’m still working a full-time job (fingers crossed that that will change in twelve months or so).

So while I will maintain my Medium presence for the near future and my previously published stories will still be out there, my new posting will likely be limited to newsletter/blog posts like this one while I explore other potential platforms.

In the meantime, I plan to continue to post stories on Literotica (you can find me at ‘flipnmelonfarmer’) and I will continue to put out the occasional novel or short story collection on Kindle. I’ve also submitted a couple of stories for consideration for an anthology that the Exceptional Erotica folks are putting together next year. Fingers crossed!

In no way am I going to stop writing, although without the self-imposed deadlines for writing for Medium, actual publication may be a little more sporadic. But that’s okay.

I’ve got at least a dozen potential stories rattling around in my head — no, probably closer to two dozen. Some of them would not be appropriate for Medium (or Kindle) anyway — I’ve got a very dirty mind, kids. So some of those stories will likely be exclusive to Lit, which gives writers a little more leeway. And oddly enough, I find Literotica readers are much more comfortable with longer stories than Medium readers are.

I’ll talk more about some of what I’m working in my month-end missive in a few days. For now, I just want to say again how incredibly much I have appreciated your feedback, your claps, and your highlights. Not gone, hopefully not forgotten, but a little quieter…

What I Wrote and Read in September

Photo by Paolo Cristovam via Unsplash

Hey, sorry I’m a little late in getting my newsletter out, but I’m at the tail end of Antonapalooza, otherwise known as my birthday. And it’s a big one. The zeros and the fives can all be important milestones, but nothing compares to 18, 40 and 65. Guess which one I just passed.

There are changes coming (sadly, retirement from my day job is not yet one of them — soon, maybe).

Medium was a great platform for me when I started publishing there at the beginning of 2024. I got noticed by the wonderful JK Mill, who encouraged me to write for Exceptional Erotica. And they have been incredibly supportive. But…

Medium as a platform has not been so supportive, at least in the past 12 months or so. For a number of reasons, I have been contemplating taking my writing elsewhere (I’m already reposting most of my Medium stuff on Literotica 2–3 weeks after initial publication).

Today I found out that Exceptional Erotica is going on an indefinite hiatus starting in November, which will likely hasten my decision to either try out Ghost or Beehiiv or some other platform, or focus on Literotica, or possibly both. I’ll keep you posted! In the meantime, shout-out to JK and Celia McKinley for being so damned awesome!

What I Wrote In September

On Medium, I finished the “Descent” arc of “Devil Inside”. Sir is in Charlotte doing some research on how to rid himself of his demon rider, while enriching himself at the expense of some of the city’s bankers. He runs into a real estate agent whose aura is blacker than his, even though she doesn’t have a demon inside of her. He has clearly gotten a taste for meddling in other peoples’ lives, and boy does he meddle in hers and her family’s!

Also on Medium, there’s a very, very hot three-parter called “Belonging” that was a response to a back-to-college prompt from Exceptional Erotica. Olivia was wild in undergrad but she’s not getting any action at the small private school she’s doing her graduate work in. Until a mysterious and kinky encounter in a classroom building restroom after hours sets her off on a very hot adventure! You can also find this one on Literotica under my “flipnmelonfarmer” handle.

What I Read In September

I always talk about the fiction I’m reading, but I want to highlight some of the non-fiction I’ve been enjoying on Medium the past few months.

We’ve known for decades that people can be anyone they want to be on the Interwebs. That hot twenty-something fitness instructor you’re trading messages with could be a fifty-year-old man in Bulgaria. We all hope that we’re discerning enough that we can tell the genuine from the artificial, and maybe we’re mostly correct, but you never really know.

I hope like hell that LibrariAnna is real. She ought to be. She is a self-described “bisexual, polyamorous, neurodivergent librarian & married mom of 4” and reading her posts on Medium about coming out as bisexual, she and her husband’s forays into ENM, and the sheer joy she finds in the connections they’ve found with another couple just make me so damn happy. She’s a hell of a writer with a hell of a story and she’s well worth a read.

One of my other favorite non-fic reads is Sam & Kate on Medium, a couple in their fifties navigating ENM and a hotwife dynamic in a much different setting than Anna’s. Sam’s writing is honest, open, and very matter-of-fact. I love that he and Kate have had their bumps and their stumbles (and they’re willing to share them with us) but they’re absolutely in each other’s corner and, as with Anna, they have a family that accepts them for who they are. We really can’t ask for much more than that. I could easily see sitting down with Sam and talking about life and music, and I’d even forego the beer since he’s sober. Check ’em out!

Next Month

I submitted another three-part arc of “Devil Inside” that should be published on Exceptional Erotica on Medium before they go on hiatus at the end of October. It’s hotter and kinkier than anything I’ve written before. I’m working on a final arc, but it will probably be added as final chapters as I turn the whole thing into a novel over the next few months.

I’ve already published another “Bear and Cat” three-parter on Medium this month, this one focused on Barry’s brother, Adam. It’s hot and sweet and a little kinky — more age gap goodness! I’ll likely post it on Literotica before the end of October.

There’s also a two-part continuation of the story of Lauren the erotica writer and her husband Mark. “Know More Of What You Write” is the most hot-wife-ish story I’ve written to date. Lauren is determined to experience more (not only in pursuit of her writing) and she’s dragging a semi-reluctant Mark along with her.

I’m also working on collecting a bunch of my shorter stuff into a single volume to sell on Amazon (and remember that I’ve got four novels already out there on the ‘zon!)

Look, it’s crazy out there. Things are weird and they’re only going to get weirder. While you still have access to this stuff, read as much as you can. Buy books — Amazon can pull back ebooks but they can’t do that with paperbacks! You can find mine at Anton J Pierce on Kindle.

And be good to each other!
